What is River House?

River House is a ‘Supportive Living’ program providing residential housing and 24-hour wrap-around supports to 10 high-acuity males who have struggled with chronic homelessness, addictions, mental and/or physical health issues. The program provides restorative care and support with the goal of achieving stabilization and progression to recovery when possible. River House is regulated under Alberta Health and is classed as a ‘Licensed Supportive Living Facility’. Through direct supports – such as the delivery of a ‘Managed Alcohol Program’, and in-reaching partners, River House assists those living within the residence to manage their active use of substances and reach their maximum level of functioning, independence and comfort.

What We Offer:

• A temporary maternity leave coverage position estimated thirteen (13) months with possibility of a six (6) month extension. Approximate Start Date: May 27, 2024.
• A team-based environment with ongoing support and paid training.

• Starting at $29.00/hour based on education and experience.
• 40-hour work week, with a one hour paid lunch. Hours of work are typically Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (flexibility may be required for evenings/weekends and on-call support).

Position Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or greater in related field (such as counselling, psychology, social work, addictions, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3-years experience working with vulnerable populations (housing and homeless experience an asset).
• Minimum of 2-years supervision experience & strong leadership skills.
• Awareness of community systems and understanding of addictions, mental health & familiarity with ‘Housing First’ and Harm Reduction philosophies.
• Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, organizational. and attention-to-detail skills.
• Collaboration with members of the administrative team to realize the greater agency’s mission and vision.
• Ability to lead within a team-based setting; employing excellent communication skills & a compassionate approach.
• Ability to obtain clear ‘Child Intervention Check’ & ‘Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sectors’.
• Valid Non-GDL Driver’s License (or willingness to seek non-GDL within 3-months of employment).
